Hello! I'm Alice, a children's and family photographer in Cambridge, UK. I love natural light, genuine moments, little details, and telling a story. I like real life - and that's why family photojournalism makes my eyes light up. I've trained with Kirsten Lewis, one of the world's best family photojournalists. My work has been featured by Sham of the Perfect. I have a young family, cats that miss the quiet life, and way too many stripey tops. My house is full of lego and my garage is full of books I might yet read. I like lists, colours, children's stories about more than just falling asleep in the end, and dark chocolate but a Freddo will do. I can be a bit camera shy (so if you are too, I'll understand). I specialise in short storytelling family photo sessions and Morning in the Life family documentary sessions. No-one has to say cheese and best behaviour is entirely optional.
Photographing families is one of the greatest joys in my life because in my mind there is nothing more important than family. Families come in all shapes and sizes but one thing unites them all; how much they mean to each other. Being a wife and a Mum myself, I know how often one parent is forgotten in photos (it’s me in our household, unsurprisingly!) so I value frequent family photo shoots for my own family. Photos of our family life together and my growing son, Grayson, are some of my most treasured possessions. I appreciate that the ease of camera phones means that we have no shortage of photos, but perhaps not the ones that capture the true essence of our family lives and our relationships. Time goes so quickly, make sure you’re preserving your memories! I’d love to talk to you about capturing a slice of your family life or your family occasion.
I studied Photography and Art at college and at University. When returning home I became a photography assistant and second shooter for weddings and now its time to make my own stamp on the world! I am very proud to share my life with my long term partner Sophie and our animals that include guinea pigs, a hamster, and a leopard gecko. I love my little family.
Before becoming a family and lifestyle portrait photographer, I was a parenting scientist. I got a PhD, analyzing thousands of mothers playing with their babies and I learned to notice tiny changes in facial expressions, small movements, and family dynamics. These are important to my photography today. I now live on an acreage near Kingston, with my husband, three children, and a menagerie of animals. My days are spent with the crow of roosters out the window, while I drink ALL the coffee and spread the joy of loving your life, loving your real self, and being forgiving of yourself as a parent.
I live in the beautiful Norfolk Broads with my wife and two children. I have been photographing weddings and families since 2010. One of the best things in life is a good story and that's what my approach to photography is all about. I get a real buzz capturing those special moments, moments you might not remember or, perhaps, did not get to see. Even moments which, at the time, might have seemed insignificant will take on greater significance as the years roll by. I get my best images when you're just being yourselves - natural light and natural emotions!
