I'm a daydreamer, a music lover, a free spirit, a traveller, and an open soul. I'm a proud wife, cat mama, and former resident of Newfoundland's very own Hollywood - Dildo! You can bribe me to do just about anything with the promise of french fries or prosecco; and if you're looking for me at a party I'm the one on the floor giving belly rubs to the animals. I'm weird about John Mayer, vinyl records and vegan junk food. I'm bold, energetic, one of a kind! I spent my childhood dreaming about all the things I wanted to become but I quickly learned I can't sing a note to save my life, and my skills with instruments leave something to be desired. Being a pop star wasn't written in the stars for me, and I'm okay with that; I feel like a rockstar with a camera in my hands. When I'm not jumping on the bed during family & wedding shoots, you can catch me in the photo pit capturing some of your favourite musicians. I love working with people who are laid back and have an open mind. Those who are not scared to get their shoes dirty, hair messy and who have a passion for their loved ones. I crave authenticity. From camping overnight and hiking along a cliffside to tiny inns and local breweries; I want to be right there having a blast right there with you! Named one of Weddingbells Magazine's top 20 most inspiring photographers in 2018. Voted 'Best Photographer' in The Scope's Best of St.John's 2011 & 2012 awards Voted 'Best Photographer' in The Overcast's Best of St. John's 2016 People's Choice Awards
I am a mother of three children and a very busy movie set and wedding photographer with my husband Andy. All the documentary experience I have received in my profession, and my great love for our two daughters and son, drives me to capture emotion, memory and moments for our clients. If you are looking to capture and hold onto the fleeting stage of your family life RIGHT NOW, I'm your gal. I photograph in your home, outdoors, somewhere fun, or anywhere you can share meaningful experiences together. We do more than take your family portraits. We capture the love laughter and craziness that you call your own. I only take 10 family lifestyle commissions a year and also offer travel services if you are located outside of the Okanagan. Contact me through my website for more information.
As a kid, I was a nerdy tomboy who devoured books and played kickball in the street. I used to page through my dad’s dusty old National Geographic magazines, falling in love with certain pictures. I would clip out my favourites with scissors and remix them as collages. … A marble statue jutting out of a black lava field. A boy with grimy hands holding a bouquet of radishes. A girl changing the oil under her pickup truck. A fisherman’s wrinkled grin. … I think looking through those pictures is when I first fell in love with photos. I didn’t start taking photos until I was an adult. While working as a French-to-English translator, I enrolled in an evening photography class for fun. And got hooked.
Before becoming a family and lifestyle portrait photographer, I was a parenting scientist. I got a PhD, analyzing thousands of mothers playing with their babies and I learned to notice tiny changes in facial expressions, small movements, and family dynamics. These are important to my photography today. I now live on an acreage near Kingston, with my husband, three children, and a menagerie of animals. My days are spent with the crow of roosters out the window, while I drink ALL the coffee and spread the joy of loving your life, loving your real self, and being forgiving of yourself as a parent.
Ever since I was a teenager, I have always enjoyed taking pictures with the camera my dad passed onto me, capturing the things, people and places around me. In 2007, I decided to turn this passion of mine into my career. Since then I have been shooting weddings, engagements, special events, family, kids and babies. I love telling stories with my camera, and my pictures demonstrated my characteristic style and unique perspective, simple yet elegant. I take great pride to apply my skills and talent to document the important and precious moments of life of my clients into lasting fine art pictures. It gives me great satisfaction to be able to capture these memories for my clients so they can cherish a lifetime.
The power of photography and that tangible element is real and is meaningful. It’s the visual documentation that provides proof we were here. We experience life, love, receive love, accomplish great feats, endure, and are a part of history within our family and communities. After that experience, I immersed myself in photojournalism. I studied, job shadowed, worked my butt off telling the stories of people who I was lucky enough to get an inside look of their lives. I’ve focused the photojournalism experience from all the assignments I’ve covered into telling stories of the people who won’t have their images highlighted inside a newspaper or magazine. This is why I do what I do. It’s also why my home has images hanging from every wall to highlight who my daughters were growing up, and who they are now. I want to always remember the 20th anniversary trip with my wife, and see myself and my girls acting goofy together. These moments are fleeting and the memories quickly fade without the images to remind us. Through portraits and weddings, I’ve devoted a big part of my life to telling stories with my images. And I take that responsibility very seriously. Because I want you to have that tangible element that will tell your story to your children, and grandchildren, and their children. I want a family member to walk down a hallway decades from now and point to a picture and ask about that moment captured in time.
